Education, Culture and Sports Department of Riga City Council would like to inform you that charge free Latvian language courses organised by Riga municipality in 2016 have already been filled up.

 

Education, Culture and Sports Department invites the inhabitants of Riga to apply for charge-free Latvian language courses. The list of organisations providing free language courses is available by clicking on the title.

 

Education, Culture and Sports Department informs that the list of organisations, who will receive financial support from Riga City Council for implementation of the project targeted at conducting free of charge Latvian language courses will be published on February 8, 2016 on the website www.kultura.riga.lv. The inhabitants of Riga will have to choose the educational institutions from the list provided and to apply there. The aim of these courses is to help the adults, who are officially registered in Riga, to acquire Latvian language within level A and B. Pupils of schools and officially unemployed persons are not eligible for these courses.

 

Education, Culture and Sports Department of Riga City Council would like to inform you that charge free Latvian language courses organised by Riga municipality in 2015 have already been filled up. We would recommend to follow information at the beginning of year 2016 on the website of the Education, Culture and Sports Department of Riga City Council www.kultura.riga.lv in order to get more information.

 

The project “We are Rigans!” has been successfully implemented with a range of informative activities, creation of the network of volunteers and Latvian language and culture courses, which were attended by 113 adults and 37 children.

 

The participants of the project “We are Rigans!” took part in the meeting related to the the topic of culture and sports activities organised by Riga municipality. They also had an opportunity to participate in a guided tour in Culture Centre “Ziemeļblāzma”.

 

The participants of the project “We are Rigans!” took part in the meeting related to the the topic of education, provided by Riga municipality. They had an opportunity to get to know the information about the pre-school and school education, as well as about hobby groups and about the activities of Youth Centers in Riga.

 

Participants of the project “We are Rigans!” took part in an experience exchange visit to Daugavpils on April 14, during which they were able to meet the First Deputy Head of Daugavpils Municipality Jānis Dukšinskis, visited Daugavpils J. Piłsudski Polish State Gymnasium and Center of Russian Culture. 

 

The participants of the project “We are Rigans!” took part in the meeting related to the the topic of social services and social benefits in Latvia and Riga. They had an opportunity to get to know the information about the state and Riga municipality social services and social benefits. 

 

The participants of the project “We are Rigans!” took part in the meeting related to the the topic of the health issues in Latvia. 

 

The participants of the project “We are Rigans!” took part in the meeting related to the the topic of the temporary residence permit in Latvia.They also had an opportunity to get to know Riga Central Library and its services available free of charge for adults and children. Some of the participants became members of the library as the result event.

 

During the meeting the participants got information about the work and about the areas of responsibility of the municipality as well as participated in a guided tour about the building. The results of the questionnaire submitted by the participants of the project were presented and it was decided about the topics to be tackled during the following meetings.

 

Riga municipality is planning to conduct charge-free Latvian language and culture courses for third-country nationals pupils of Riga schools and adults, as well as for non-citizens. The courses will be conducted within the project “We are Rigans!” and duration of the courses is foreseen from January till June 2015.

Education, Culture and Sports Department of Riga City Council in cooperation with the Riga Center of Education and Information is implementing project with the financial support of the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals (75%) and Latvian state (25%). The duration of the project is December 5, 2014 – June 30, 2015.
